Table 1 Eligibility Criteria for PrEPare for Work Study

From: Study protocol of a randomized controlled trial to assess the efficacy of the “PrEPare for Work” intervention to enhance PrEP uptake and optimize adherence for HIV prevention among male sex workers in the U.S.

Inclusion Criteria

Exclusion Criteria

• Age: 18 years or older

• Assigned male sex at birth

• Identifies as male at enrollment

• Report having exchanged sex for money, drugs, a place to stay, or any items of value with another man within the past three months

• Not currently on PrEP

• Indicated for PrEP per CDC guidelines (including HIV uninfected by antibody test)

• Owns a cell phone or is willing to use one as part of the study

• Able to understand and speak English

• Unable to provide informed consent due to severe mental or physical illness, cognitive impairment, or substance intoxication at the time of interview (will use an adapted version of the Evaluation to Sign Consent Form11 to assess capacity)

• Discovery of active suicidal ideation or serious mental illness (e.g., current psychosis or mania) at the time of interview (these patients will be referred immediately for treatment but may join the study when this is resolved)

• Was randomized to the intervention condition of the pilot RCT
