Structure of the modified metapopulation SEIR model. The population is divided into two socioeconomic groups: Subpopulation 1 (P1) and Subpopulation 2 (P2). Individuals within each subpopulation are divided into the following infection classes or compartments: susceptible (S), exposed but not infectious (E), asymptomatic infectious (IA), pre-symptomatic infectious (IP), symptomatic infectious (IS), and removed (R). The progression through the different compartments is described by key epidemiological timescales that characterize the transmission dynamics of COVID-19 infection
