A report from the Secretariat “International cooperation for implementation of the WHO FCTC, including implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the global NCD targets and human rights” noted the role of the WHO FCTC and tobacco control in the SDG, potential for collaboration with other UN agencies (UNICEF, Human Rights Council) to advance the discussion of tobacco control in the human rights context with particular regard to tobacco industry practices. The report further noted the role human rights play in implementing the WHO FCTC and proposed a framework for cooperation with other agencies and civil society and national governments that includes human rights organs.
