This path model shows the regression coefficients of association between family support, diabetes self-management and mean plasma glucose. It is seen that there is a positive association between family support and diabetes self-management, whereas there is a negative association between self-management and mean plasma glucose. However, the association between self-management and mean plasma glucose was not statistically significant. Age had a statistically significant influence on the self-care activities, whereas sex did not have an influence. The model has acceptable fit as indicated by CFI = 0.990 (greater than 0.90 indicates acceptable fit), NFI = 0.956 (greater than 0.80 indicates acceptable fit), RMSEA = 0.042 (lesser than 0.08 indicates acceptable fit)
