Possibility for life-long follow-up of the health status of the birth cohort by utilizing registers. The cohort can be followed using the personal identification number (PIN) of the child, except of the case of induced abortion (recorded under mother’s PIN). In the case of spontaneous abortion the record is partly available from the woman’s health register. Emigration outside of Finland causes the loss for follow up of the child
