Schematic overview of subpopulations and available data sources in Germany. Approximately 85% of the population in Germany is covered by statutory health insurance (SHI), most of the remainder are covered by private health insurance (PHI) and a small proportion are uninsured (exact number unknown). For persons covered by the SHI, antiretroviral prescriptions are recorded and reported through antiretroviral prescription data (APD). The German ClinSurv HIV cohort (CSH) contains detailed ART history data on approximately 20% of people living with HIV in Germany receiving ART, both those who are covered by SHI and those who are not.
