Costs of treating a TB patient are presented in three broad areas: social or patient-related costs; public sector or institutional costs; and private sector costs. The study results were compared with costs of PPPs in similar studies in India [28], Brazil [30] and South Africa [27]. Note 1: Mean values of patients' costs were affected by the inclusion of costs prior to diagnosis and TB treatment. Note 2: costs incurred in the Nepal study include costs prior to diagnosis and treatment, in contrast to the other studies shown here.
