Ethiopia is administratively divided into nine regional states and two city administrations, and the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Regional State (SNNPRS) accounts for one-fifth (13 million) of the total population of the country. The study area (Hadiya zone) has got a population of 1.2 million.
