Change in OD prevalence for 34 sub-Saharan African Countries between 2005–2010. Data calculated from national surveys for the 34 sub-Saharan African countries that met the following selection criteria: 1) have at least two national surveys that collected data on open defecation conducted between 2000 to 2010, 2) have at least one national survey that collected data on open defecation conducted between 2006 to 2010, and 3) have more than 10% of the households reporting open defecation in 2005 [14]. Solid lines (−) indicate countries with greater than 10% reduction in open defecation; Dashed lines () indicate countries with 1 to 10% reduction in open defecation rate; Dotted lines (∙-∙∙-∙-) indicates countries with no reduction or increase in OD prevalence.
