  2. COR = Cumulative odds ratios (COR) as obtained from multivariable ordinal regression analysis with grade of diabetes severity (grade 1–4) as the dependent variable.
  3. COR1: adjusted for age (continuous variable) and sex.
  4. COR2: adjusted for age (continuous variable), sex, region of residence, body mass index, smoking status, sports activities and educational attainment.
  5. Model 1: with no. of diabetes-discordant comorbidities as explanatory variable.
