  1. The table shows only those who did not have a cold at either phase and is split into England (n = 51) and Scotland (n = 129).
  2. 1 Reduction – Symptoms at Baseline, none at follow-up: Increase No symptoms at baseline, symptoms at follow-up. For ‘median # of symptoms’ this is the number of people whose number of symptoms changed. For ‘any symptom’ this is the change in the number of people experiencing any symptom.
  3. 2 The p-value relates to the McNemar test for matched pairs, with exact probabilities based on a Binomial assumption with the exception of; Median number of symptoms which were tested using Mann–Whitney U test of equal medians.
  4. 3 The IQR is the inter-quartile range.
