Treatment

Description

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT)

Helps challenge clients' negative beliefs about their ability to cope with stressful situations. Gradually exposes them to feared situations and objects in order to eliminate the fear.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

Incorporates methods from CBT and other therapies to help clients revisit and reprocess traumatic memories so they become less distressing.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy

Focuses on clients' unconscious and unresolved conflicts, and how these might contribute to current symptoms. Emphasizes the clients' relationship with the therapist.

Hypnotherapy

A form of psychotherapy that uses hypnosis.
